Italy’s Important Upcoming Champions League Matches

The 2017-18 UEFA Champions League group stages kicked off on 12 September, and so far all 32 teams left in the tournament have played one of their six home-and-away matches that will decide who goes through to the Round of 16. There are three Italian clubs in the group stages, and Italy’s sports betting fans might be slightly concerned that none of them have managed a win yet.

As Roma played Atletico Madrid in their group opener, but were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw. In the other Group C match, Chelsea thumped Azerbaijan’s Qarabag FK 6-0, so the English and Spanish sides will be Roma’s main threat. The teams swop opponents in Wednesday’s second round, with Atletico at home to Chelsea and Qarabag hosting Roma. If Chelsea takes a second victory and Roma wins away, the Italian side will be second in the group.

Juventus Fall to Barcelona

Barcelona took another resounding victory in front of the Camp Nou faithful in their opening clash against Juventus. The 3-0 win puts Barca at the top of Group D and Juventus at the bottom, after Portugal’s Sporting CP beat Greek hosts Olympiacos 3-2, to be placed second and third, respectively.

Juventus now hosts Olympiacos on Wednesday, while Barcelona travels to Lisbon. Once again, the Italian side needs the win, no matter what else goes on in the group, if they are to remain in contention, and if they do, they’d feel like they’ve hit the jackpot at River Belle online casino!

Napoli Need Feyenoord Win

Napoli is the final Italian club qualified, and they’re in Group F with Manchester City, Ukraine’s Shakhtar Donetsk, and Feyenoord Rotterdam. The Neapolitans lost their first group match away against the Ukrainians 2-1, so they need a victory badly at home against Feyenoord on Tuesday. City beat the Netherlands’ club 4-0, so the English team probably won’t have too much trouble against Donetsk.

The Rest of the Groups

Wednesday also sees two Group A matches: CSKA Moscow at home to Manchester United, and Basel hosting Benfica in Switzerland. Wednesday’s Group B matches are Paris Saint-Germain hosting Bayern Munich, and Belgian outfit Anderlecht at home to Scotland’s Celtic. Man U probably has the upper hand in Group A, but PSG and Bayern are locked in a battle for Group B supremacy.

Group E plays its next two matches on Tuesday: Sevilla at home to Slovenia’s Maribor, and Liverpool away to Spartak Moscow. The Spanish and English teams are currently leading the group. Tuesday’s Group G hosts are Turkey’s Besiktas and Monaco, playing RB Leipzig and Porto respectively. Group G is the one punters might want to consider when looking for a surprise shake-up of the ladder to bet on.

Finally, in Group H, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are top of the table with one win each, but both will play away on Tuesday. However, with Spurs against Cypriot team APOEL, and Real facing Germany’s Borussia Dortmund, it looks like the English and Spanish teams could both go two wins up this week.
